Hellboy II is a fun ride
Nowadays I've found myself watching what I spend even more than usual...and I know that's nothing new to you. When it comes to movies, I want to know that the fifty bucks I spend on a ticket, small pop, and small popcorn is going to be worth that movie. For example, I didn't see Hancock and won't until the DVD comes out. The reviews just aren't that good.
However, Hellboy II is now out, and I had a chance to see it at a midnight showing. I've been a bit geeked over this one, so I decided to do it.
It's worth the price of admission.
For those that liked the first one, I think you'll find that this one is even better. There are a few parts that drag a bit, but those fly by when you plunge right back into the action. The plot was not quite what I expected, but was still very good. I expected Hellboy, but not the touch of Tolkien that's in this movie. I guess I shouldn't have been...after all, the movie's director, Guillermo Del Toro, is now moving on to direct The Hobbit.
I don't want to give away the whole film (I hate reviews that do that)...but there are some hilarious bits in a locker room, and with Hellboy and Abe doing some...uh...freak-bonding.
I think you'll enjoy the ride.
